Painting titled: The Fork in the Road by Marci Stacey, 2019 Gouache
Fork in the Road is an original painting by artist Marci Stacey in gouache. The artist left a stable, well-paying job in the nuclear field to pursue her passions of art and the love of others. This decision, as a fork in the road, has truly made all the difference. Her passion and compassion is to empower vulnerable populations through opportunities. Every one wants the opportunity for a good life. The kind of opportunities found in countries such as the United States. The artist states, “I can not bring all of you to America, but I can bring American opportunities to you.”
Every dollar earned in proceeds goes toward the making and distribution of one reusable fabric sanitary pad that can be used 3-5 years. Every sanitary pad made employees a seamstress. Every pad empowers a young girl to stay in school to get an education. Every pad provides an opportunity for a woman to not only save her family money in disposable pads worth 2 months worth of groceries for a family of 4, but also allows women the opportunity to get jobs and provide a source of income they could not sustain missing 1 week of work every month, simply due to the lack of money for sanitary protection.
Every dollar of proceeds is used in micro-economic business loans for single parents, trainings, education for old and young, skill building and self-sustaining, self-sufficiency projects. What better way to provide others the opportunity to raise their own standard of living than to celebrate the beauty of a county, culture and individuals than through the beauty of art.
Own a piece of what started the movement to rethink charity. Give the gift of empowerment and opportunity through the gift of art.
